The first thing we noticed about ‘I Can’t Wait Anymore’ is the elegant, evocative vocals that open it. That’s an important trait of The Celtic Social Club, once again sharing their classic and hypnotising style of baroque-pop and alt-folk. Blending guitars with fiddles and relatable melodies, the Franco-Irish collective showcases a sound that’s actually pretty unique, quite niche, yet still universally relatable, and incredibly classy.
The single anticipates the band’s upcoming album – ‘Inventory’ – a long 20-track ‘Best Of’ collecting their best work so far. As their name suggests, The Celtic Social Club does indeed include a Celtic component, in the aforementioned fiddles. At a closer look, the song also contains a lingering new-wave character, something that’s perhaps more common to the vocals, quite obscure and lush. It’s a bold and eclectic sonic recipe that’s obviously working well for the international project.
Speaking about the influences behind ‘I Can’t Wait Anymore’, The Celtic Social Club explain: “The result is a beautiful mix somewhere between the jaunty fun of Irish pub tunes and the crying guitars of Pink Floyd!”.
