If there was ever a band on the brink of stardom, that would be The Buggs. Hailing from Germany – Düsseldorf, in particular – the young newcomers seem to have found the right musical recipe for their indie, retro-flavoured artistry. In fact, listening to their latest effort ‘Inside Her Head’, one could mistake them for the most classic of British outfits: they really have a strong English character to them, a sonic quality more akin to the likes of Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
That’s also what makes them fresh: by borrowing existing cultural references, The Buggs are able to fully innovate on a proven formula, bringing the past into the present with creative flair. That’s what we’d call a winning move. ‘Inside Her Head’ is a short yet hard-hitting offering. Clocking in just before the 2.30 minutes mark, the record is a slice of euphoria and uplifting energy, fully wrapping the listeners into the group’s exciting journey. Charming vocal harmonies are a welcome plus.
Having built quite a sizeable following, the German band can today boast more than 300k streams on Spotify alone, a feature that allows them to put in place a serious touring schedule. The Buggs are coming for you, are you ready?
