Ten Minute Detour Pour Their Hearts and Souls Into ‘Golden Tapestry’

Jeremy Bregman

Ten Minute Detour is a Toronto-based four-piece that recently unleashed its third full-length album in the form of ‘Golden Tapestry’. The album contains twelve carefully crafted songs that cross musical boundaries and showcase the band’s incredible range and diversity. Indie-rock, Americana, hints of folk, and something else magical that I just can’t quite put my finger on. Whatever it might be, it’s drawing me in more and more with each spin of ‘Golden Tapestry’.

Spending a large part of the pandemic in their home-built studio, the foursome recorded, produced, engineered, and mixed the entire album themselves. “The world handed us all the time in the world we could dream of,” said lead guitarist Jordan Macneil. “And we used every moment”.

Honestly, from ‘Midnight Kid’ to ‘Morning Bird’ to the album’s title track ‘Golden Tapestry’, Ten Minute Detour have concocted an album they can be immensely proud of. Each tune tells its own little story in the most charming and delightful way, and it’s easy to understand why the band feel that the album is “by far our best work to date”. ‘Golden Tapestry’ has been a beautiful discovery, and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into some more Ten Minute Detour!
