TECHNOIR is a fitting name for the Milan-based duo. Blending dark electronica and brooding textures with emotional and introspective lyricism, the pair builds a sonic universe which feels authentic and evocative, wrapping the listeners into cathartic energy and unwavering meaningfulness. Alexandros Finizio and Jennifer Villa head the project, collaborating on delivering hard-hitting music and lyrics.
‘AFTER MATH’ is their latest effort, a twelve-track album that’s as eclectic as it is experimental. From the dark-electro tones of ‘Saturate’, to the leftfield and new-wave flavoured formula of ‘A Taste of Dystopia’, passing through the contemporary minimalism and mellow arpeggios in ‘Dune/Cercami’ – everything screams artistic freedom. At a deeper look, Finizio and Villa like to shop around multiple genres, even approaching noise rock and trip-hop grooves, as heard in ‘Polluted Core’. Clearly, there’s tons of alternative energy in it.
Citing the Bristol scene of the 90s as one of their primary influences, TECHNOIR explain: “AFTER MATH is intended to symbolize the consequences of a shattering event, like the past three years for all of us but also deals with the times we’re living in and the advent of hyper-advanced technology, such as the concept of artificial intelligence”.
