Easing us into the weekend is ‘Broke But Never Broken,’ the beautiful and delicate debut single from Calgary-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Lang. A fusion of folk and fingerstyle techniques, the warm and mellifluous offering washes over you like a comforting breeze, gliding effortlessly with grace and poise. Rich and expertly produced, the tune is quite frankly a remarkable debut from an artist who’s finally ready to deliver his musical vision to the world.
As a lifelong multi-instrumentalist, Taylor has been performing in a variety of acts for more than a decade. He was a member of the award-winning grunge band Crack the Lens and frontman for YYCMA-nominated folk-rock trio Blaeser. So, while by no means his first rodeo, ‘Broke But Never Broken’ is his first foray into the solo music scene.
“‘Broke But Never Broken’ is a heartfelt reflection on my upbringing and the sacrifices my mother made for our family,” says Lang. “Something I couldn’t understand until I was much older”.
Inspired by the likes of Dan Mangan, Donovan Woods, City & Colour, and The Tragically Hip, Taylor Lang has all the skill and heart to make it to the very top. A true artist in every sense of the word, we can’t wait to hear what he offers up next!
