At just thirteen years old, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Jules was already sharing the stage with heavyweights like Jackson Browne, Robby Krieger, and Matt Sorum. Today, however, we’d like to focus on her beautiful brand new second single called ’19’, a tune that will feature on the musician’s upcoming EP. “When you’re nineteen, you have endless possibilities,” says Taylor. “You have the freedom of being a teenager, but also a safety net”.
Delicate keys and the soulful, velvety vocals of Jules introduce the song, and it magnificently builds itself up into a cinematic and contemporary pop wonder. I’m struggling to get over how ridiculously good Taylor’s vocal performance is on the track. So controlled, commanding, and effortlessly sweet.
Inspired by the likes of Anne Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Allen Stone, and Carole King, Jules has come up with a sound that is attracting admirers from far and wide. Her debut single ‘Helicopter’, released just two months ago, already has over 28,000 plays on Spotify. ’19’ is sitting on over 4,000, and has only been out for four days at the time of writing! Jules is a star and we eagerly await to hear a lot more from her!
Serious tune alert! Enjoy ’19’ on Spotify now:
