A stark return to Tate Sedar’s musical roots, ‘Overload’ marks a year of intense change in the life of the LA-based creative. Battling with a series of challenging personal circumstances and the crash of his most precious laptop, Sedar took time to readjust and find what’s authentic for him, eventually jumping back into rowdy and brainiac breakbeat territories, a genre that’s always been pivotal to Tate’s artistic development.
Now completing the DJ and producer’s transition into post-EDM territories – as he so eloquently describes it – Sedar looks to stay authentic to his taste and influences, sharing a hard-hitting piece that showcases his dubstep and breakbeat influences. We are not complaining: ‘Overload’ is certainly a club-oriented release, and comes with an electrifying, vibrant production that’s likely to impress even the most apathetic of listeners out there.
Speaking about the record, Tate explains: “It’s funny. I don’t always plan on breakbeat [in sets], but it always comes back to me. The LA underground loves it, and it keeps finding me. It’s part of who I am.”
