‘All I Die For’ is the dreamy, chewy, and shoegazy new single from Toronto-based act SWiiMS. It’s the first we’ve heard from the outfit since their 2020 EP ‘Through Waves’, and it will excitingly form part of the band’s upcoming full-length album ‘Into The Blue Night’. A swirling, atmospheric, rocky, and intense little number, the tune feels as if it’s floating over you rather than simply playing through your speakers (or headphones). It’s like a meteor shower of sound that leaves a trail of electrifying melodies in its wake. It’s basically perfect in every way!
Formed during the golden days of summer right before the pandemic, SWiiMS, composed of the dynamic trio Mai Diaz Langou, Colin Thompson, and Cian O’Ruanaidh, discovered an instant and electrifying chemistry between them. Their eclectic and wide-ranging influences, from 80s new-wave to 90s Britpop, are undoubtedly what has led to their distinctive sound, style, and vibe.
Lyrically, ‘All I Die For’ is about the beginnings of a relationship. It’s about how we lie to ourselves and make ourselves more intriguing and alluring so that others won’t lose interest. “It also describes the feeling of hopefulness, bliss, and loss of control that the start of any new relationship brings,” says the band.
