Packed with insane amounts of playful energy and sultry, passionate lyricism, ‘Caught In A Web’ evokes a myriad of influences, from 80s-inspired bright synth tones to early 2000’ indie extravaganza, all drenched in a certain mainstream flair. Malina Hamilton-Smith’s luscious and charming vocals are a perfect match for such a powerful record, here delivering relatable, light songwriting and catchy melodies.
Glenn Abbott accompanies Hamilton-Smith as a trusted partner, taking care of the production and co-writing duties (some of you might remember him as a member of ARIA-nominated Australian cult band Machine Gun Fellatio). Hailing from the sunny Gold Coast, the pair goes by the artistic moniker Super Massive, and we are happy to report that the project does exactly what it says on the tin: delivering massive bangers and a euphoric, hypnotising aura.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Caught In A Web’, Super Massive explain: “It’s about the invisible ties that connect people, with under-layers about the increasingly merging virtual/real life interface that eloquently capture the zeitgeist of life for all of us human beings in the year 2024.”
