I can’t think of a better tune to round off a busy week than ‘Mystery and Magic’, the sophomore single courtesy of Melbourne-based singer/songwriter Sunset Salore. Her debut release ‘Call It’ was a track that we at Mesmerized fell deeply in love with, labelling it a “powerful and empowering anthem,’ and we’ve been waiting patiently to hear from the gifted songstress again.
A song about the euphoria of learning something new, trusting our instincts, and expanding our horizons, ‘Mystery and Magic’ provides further proof that Sunset Salore is firmly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music world.
A fusion of synthy, dreamy, and upbeat hypnotic pop, ‘Mystery and Magic’ sucks the listener into a world of ethereal soundscapes and enchanting melodies. There’s a mystifying guitar riff that plays throughout the tune and, along with Sunset’s gentle yet confident vocals, balances soothing textures with a compelling energy that is simply irresistible.
A track that will form part of Salore’s upcoming EP, the artist admits to listening to old funk songs while writing the record. “It was a nod I had wanted to lend to this song in particular,” she says. “I also wanted to play with space, and an ebb/flow of the song as it progressed which would hopefully add a layer of interest and consideration throughout”.
