Sugar Nova Share Disco Banger ‘Darkness Turns to Dawn’

A pure, unfiltered slice of disco energy, ‘Darkness Turns to Dawn’ is everything a keen dancer could wish for. Drenched in nostalgic disco-era staples – such as orchestral strings stabs and a decisively funky guitar – the tracks move with charisma and confidence, evoking carefree euphoria and party-filled good times. In fact, there’s also a distinct early ‘2000 flavouring that seems to be ingrained into the record (remember ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’?).

Behind such a powerful record, we find talented humans Sugar Nova. Made up of the evocative and vibrant vocals of Rachel Eisenstat and the sapient production of Luke Miller, the project might be known by our readers for its previous album ‘Halogen’, an alt-pop offering packed with poignancy and quirkiness. ‘Darkness Turns to Dawn’ flips the entire script, catapulting the project into more cheerful territories.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Sugar Nova explains: “We wanted to capture the mood when the music gets you in a trance and you feel like you could keep dancing all night until the sun comes up”.
