It’s great to observe talented creatives evolving over time. For instance, Striker evolved from a DJ and party host to an interesting, talented producer. Hailing from London, UK, his first release is out exactly today, the Afro house, kaleidoscopic EP ‘Tribal Essence’. There’s a lot to unpack in it, but perhaps we should preface it all with a disclaimer: this is dance music, a hypnotising stream of groovy gems, a record we can get lost in.
‘Anaya’ opens the EP with haunting energy and electric bouncy rhythms, blending afro house and deep house vibes with a certain trance fashion. ‘Cula’ is the perfect follow-up, finding its way back to pointillistic synths and vintage stabs. Overall, we feel as though there’s a good amount of leftfield references in it. Elsewhere, ‘Parti’ and ‘Art of War’ expand the sonic palette with charming female vocal samples, also slowing down the BPM a fair bit.
‘Back Up’ takes the record to a close in techno and dubstep fashion, with intricate vocal bits and an obscure, gloomy atmosphere. Overall, ‘Tribal Essence’ mirrors such darkness, although is rather tender and gentle in its delivery. While this is Striker’s first release, it already showcases a great deal of production prowess, and we are confident it won’t take long till the global music scene takes note of him.
