‘Weather (where you are)’ is the brand new single from London-based singer/songwriter SteveWarnerFolk, and it’s one of the most beautiful and intimate tunes I’ve heard in some time. Described by the musician as a “quirky longed-for love song,” ‘Weather’ uses The Shipping Forecast, a BBC Radio broadcast of weather reports, as a vehicle to tell its story of lost love. “It’s about someone looking for their love and wondering what the weather is like where they are,” says Steve.
An alternative folk track at its core, ‘Weather’ features a delicate acoustic guitar and masterfully subtle piano work. The understated arrangement highlights the beauty of simplicity and allows for Steve’s poignant and deeply stirring vocals to take center stage, echoing in the listener’s mind and resonating with a sincerity that cuts straight to the soul.
Working alongside Phil Sheldrake, Hannah Elizabeth and Griff Jameson, Steve and Co. have concocted a timeless piece of music that wraps you up in a warm and nostalgic sonic blanket.
Influenced by fellow songwriters like David Gray, Damien Rice, and Ben Howard, SteveWarnerFolk offers a listening experience that is tender and unforgettable. I can’t wait to hear from him again!
