Following up on our recent interview with Swedish sonic voyager Star Vision, we are happy to report that ‘Running with the Night’ is now out into the world, in a triumph of glittering 80s energy and more eclectic, wholesome vibes. In a way, it’s like taking a dive into Scott van Dort’s imaginative mind, hypnotised by the three-dimensional tones and the overwhelming nostalgia pouring out from every note.
A stunning rendition of Lionel Richie’s ‘Running with the Night’, the track showcases all of the nuanced artistry championed so proudly by the Swedish musician. Oscillating between classic synthwave fashion and heavier (but still elegant) AOR character, Star Vision raises the stakes even more by asking Greek guitarist Jimmy Konsta for a fierce, striking guitar solo, one that takes us back to the early MTV days of giants such as Mark Knopfler, among others.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the cover, Star Vision explains: “Hearing this song last year, for the first time in decades, transported me back to the ‘80s and ‘90s. I immediately envisioned a version where guitars and synths took the lead, bringing a fresh yet nostalgic take on this classic.”
