A wonderfully nuanced and fragile offering, ‘In Your Armor’ is an almost perfect pop song. Taking cues from early-2000s female-driven pop-rock, the record is bold and solid, yet incredibly expressing and meaningful. On a bed of acoustic and electric guitars plus mellow drums and light textures, the track lays a healthy amount of poignancy, making good use of evocative female vocals, elegant and luscious (courtesy of Lisa Thompson); the perfect match for such a sonically rich song.
Catchy and relatable, ‘In Your Armor’ uses quirky medieval metaphors to indulge in love lyricism and fictional relationship scenarios. The result is a slice of playful classic pop, a record that’s familiar yet quite innovative. Penned by Canadian talent Star Persona, ‘In Your Armor’ sees head honcho Claude Malette taking a leading role, showcasing his expert songwriting prowess.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, he explains: “The song has a medieval feeling, it’s about how armour can be both a sanctuary or a shield to keep people out. Another silly love song!”.
