You may remember us recently falling in love with a tune called ‘Y2K Warning’ courtesy of Glasgow-based punk-popsters Spoonr. Labelling it a “crunchy and energetic earworm,” it was a track that harkened back to the noughties era of punk-rock. Having waited patiently to hear from the outfit again, Spoonr has now answered our prayers in the form of ‘Spinning Wheel,’ their brand new single.
Taking a more emo, pop-punk, and indie-rock approach compared to its predecessor, ‘Spinning Wheel’ is a sonically upbeat and infectious little number. Anthemic and overflowing with energy, it’s proof of Spoonr’s ability to craft sing-along bangers that instantly get stuck in listener’s heads.
“While it’s a statement about news media, it’s maybe…also actually a bit of a lament for more straightforward times,” says vocalist Dudley Prentice. “Underneath it all, there’s a sadness to the lyrics which we hope come across amongst the band’s energy”.
As the fourth of ten new songs that Spoonr has up their sleeves, ‘Spinning Wheel’ will form part of the act’s sophomore album scheduled for release early next year. Keep an eye (and ear) open, because if ‘Y2K Warning’ and ‘Spinning Wheel’ are any indication, the record is going to be nothing short of spectacular!
