A playful, bright and sharp record, ‘Little Bit Shy’ also reveals deeper lyricism – a sign that appearances are not always what they seem. Built over a groovy and punchy electro-pop arrangement with a pinch of guitar distortion, the track develops slowly yet steadily into an absolute banger; a relatable, friendly anthem with a very functional musical outlook.
All the attention is given to Spider Cherry’s witty and fun vocals, taking the listener on a quirky journey through the reason behind his wild, unregulated behaviours… a general nod to ADHD (which Nathan Mercado, aka Spider Cherry, lives with). Born in Britain, he’s now based in Florida.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, he explains: “A river of wine, a floored gas pedal, candy, nightmares, burned-out bulbs, pride, unapologetic hedonism, and a hint of sheepishness, too”. Look out for ‘Little Bit Shy’ music video, directed by Kid Wanderlust.
