Lina Sophie and Richey Rose came bouncing into my world in the middle of last year with the release of their electro-pop jewel ‘Pills‘. Better known as the alternative dream pop act Songs for Sabotage, Lina and Richey recently returned with another new tune titled ‘Fortress’. Serving as the second single from their forthcoming full-length album ‘Clean Trauma’, ‘Fortress’ takes quite a sonic turn when compared to its predecessor.
Taking on a more “sad pop song” approach, it’s a track that sees Songs for Sabotage find inspiration in acts like Beach House, Depeche Mode, and Slowdive. Synth-heavy and with that signature dreamy sound, it’s further proof of just how ridiculously talented these two actually are! Sure, they have their influences like everyone else, but their music is also unquestionably original and genuine.
As for the meaning behind the tune, the duo say that ‘Fortress’ is about “boxing yourself in with your insecurities despite all the potential you might have”. A metaphor for hiding away from the world, it’s a track that is deeply honest and thought-provoking, something we have come to truly admire from this pair! ‘Clean Trauma’ will be out on the 28th of February, and we are waiting with bated breath to hear it!
Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Fortress’ on Spotify now:
