Soná’s Debut EP ‘Fighting Demons to Love’ is a Thing of Beauty

Jeremy Bregman

Four years ago, Aaron Ray quit his legal job at one of the Netherlands’ top law firms and dedicated everything he had to his music. He spent every day writing and developing his sound, and the outcome is his remarkable new EP called ‘Fighting Demons to Love’. Performing under the moniker of Soná, the musician released his debut single ‘The Road Again’ and follow-up ‘To Trust Someone’ in September and October respectively. Both of the enchanting, honest, and moving tunes feature on the EP.

‘Calling’ is the EP’s opener, and sets the mood expertly for what’s to come. Described by the artist as “a song about feeling but then closing the distance felt in a relationship in the most intimate manner,” Soná’s rich vocal performance and dreamy soundscape instantly drew me into the track.

Influenced by a wide variety of musicians, the likes of Ben Howard, RY X, Damien Rice, and Daughter to name just a few, Soná is already back in the studio and hard at work. With four more singles up his sleeve, we simply cannot wait to hear them. The artist has created a sound that is very much his own, and that authenticity and genuineness will serve him excellently going forward!
