Before realizing it, we are transported back to the glorious days of R&B and eclectic fusion. Sol Syncd do an impressive trick here, blending evocative and lovable soulful vocals with a nuanced and vibrant instrumental. Balanced over neo-soul, vintage solo prowess and contemporary electronic stylings, the track feels like a soundtrack to a family-oriented TV series, perhaps from the early 90s.
Made up of talents Djemini and Salvatore Manalo, the Portland-based duo makes vocal harmonies and stunning guitar solos their signature elements, a quality that’s very evident in ‘Moonlight’, the pair’s latest effort. As mentioned above, it’s a very relatable and memorable record; it’s short but it leaves a lasting impact.
Speaking about the inspiration behind it, Sol Syncd explains: “It explores a budding relationship with catchy melodies, modern-retro production, and inspiring instrumentation.” For anyone wanting to hear more, the American group has a debut EP set to be released in late August… don’t miss it!
