Skycall Reflect On Personal Choices in ‘Wendy’

Penned by Fabrice Duval and Luc Erwin, ‘Wendy’ is a slice of retro nostalgia, a jump into 70s-flavoured rock’n’roll territories with a pinch of elegant pop prowess. Hailing from France, Colmar, the pair crafts material that’s inspired by heaps of acts from the past. Being what many would call a mature act, Skycall remain true to themselves, offering an ever-relevant sound, although perhaps not for everyone.

A psychiatrist by day, Duval finds fertile territory in describing the human psyche, an element that’s certainly also present in ‘Wendy’. As the French creative explains: “This song tells the story of Wendy, whose life is made of disillusionment and broken dreams; she forgets herself in artificial paradises before suddenly returning to reality when the effects wear off”.

This ethereal state of mind can be seen as a mirror of our reality, at least in its more expansive sense; while we are all stuck in troubles and hardships, we also have the ultimate choice to act towards getting better. Duval continues: “The message is far from being pessimistic since we always have the choice: if she wants and agree to be helped, Wendy has within her all the strength that can help her to rebuild herself and finally live her life to make it a masterpiece”.
