Introduced by a glorious, evocative saxophone solo, ‘Me’ is a truly impressive offering. Penned by American musician and songwriter Ski Team – aka Lucie Lozinski – the single is a stunning slice of indie-pop with a distinct leftfield tendency. In other words, it pushes the boundary a fair bit, both in terms of production nuances (courtesy of collaborator Daniel Knowles) and songwriting prowess.
Overall, ‘Me’ is just truly unique and peculiar. It’s something new – fresh, edgy and elegant. That’s what captured our attention, together with Lucie’s dynamic and luscious vocal tone, the perfect match for such a sultry and eclectic arrangement. What’s more, she and the sax player (Matt Podell) first met on Hinge, deciding to create music together instead of dating.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Ski Team explains: “The song is about the struggle of adjusting someone’s role in your life, or your own role to them, and giving up control in that process. I guess it’s about realizing if you have to assign roles, maybe it’s not as special as you think.”
