It doesn’t happen often to receive a track that delves into such complex lyricism. You see, a lot of times, music is written with a ‘popular perspective’ in mind: artists will sing about what they anticipate will relate to people, which boils down to rather common themes of love, breakups, etc. While it is surely a good strategy, it also strips the song from authenticity and truly personal artistry. London-based talent Skar de Line understands this completely.
Take his latest release, the anthemic and cinematic electronic pop gem ‘A Way’. In it, the listener will be met with a rather unique and inspiring story, one that navigates deep into human consciousness and the hypocrisies of our behaviours. As the fourth chapter in his autobiographical music suite, ‘A Way’ is inspired by Skar de Line’s own real-life experience of intervening and saving a man from a suicide attempt. However, during that fearless act, he found himself wrestling with feelings of selfishness, a revelation that left him questioning his core sense of morality.
Skar de Line approaches the song with impressive honesty. In ‘A Way’, we get a glimpse of the human psyche’s inner complexity, especially when faced with chaotic and thrilling events. Of course, it’s still mellow on the ears: the Swedish talent showcases a fantastic vocal tone, evocative, intense yet controlled. A worthy listen, don’t overlook it.
