We wrote about ‘Legion’ not long ago, celebrating the track as “taking us by the neck, wrapping us into euphoric and electrifying energy. A shock to the system.” We stand by our words: the record confirms its charming qualities even today, delivering dynamism and fierceness together with alternative and retro flair. So much so, that SIR-VERE – the talented collective behind the single – decided to release an EP of remixes, a 7-track compilation including a stunning version from Dan Kanopka (from OK Go).
Further along the record, the keen listener will be able to taste incursions into different genres, such as dark techno and EDM, and noisier, avant-garde territories. A fitting appetizer for SIR-VERE’s latest album, ‘Lovescope’, released very recently. In it, we are able to dive deeper into what constitutes the project’s building blocks, including breakbeat-flavoured drum grooves and new-wave grittiness, all declined following the British outfit’s particular musical recipe.
Speaking about the inspiration behind their recent body of work, SIR-VERE explains: “A double-edged reminder to the many that they hold the real power, not government or military or police, as well as a warning to those in power of who they serve and ultimately answer to.”
