SIM’s identity or whereabouts might be shrouded in secrecy, yet their music is as expansive and welcoming as it could be, a slice of heavenly sonic energy delivered with immense charisma and experimental flair. ‘HAPPY/SAD’ is the project’s latest effort, a stunning double single with highly contrasting characters. In particular, ‘SAD’ strongly resonates with us. A leftfield journey packed with anthemic synthetisers, dazzling fast-paced beats and a deep sense of melancholia, the track is as intense and striking as they come.
On the contrary, ‘HAPPY’ pursues a more positive, uplifting path, even incorporating otherworldly, yet catchy vocals throughout. Having been described as a “mysterious figure believed to be a future evolution of humanity”, SIM is certainly unique in their nuanced artistry, a brilliant entity scrambling music as we know it, perhaps for the greater good. Or, perhaps just for personal expression. Whatever it is, we are glad SIM exists, and we look forward to hearing more.
