You may remember us waxing lyrical about an EP titled ‘SL EP1’ earlier this year. Courtesy of Merseyside-based singer/songwriter Shaun Lewis, the raw, gritty, and deeply compelling record struck a serious chord with me. He has since gone on to release ‘SL EP2’, another engrossing four-track offering, and most recently ‘SL EP3’, which I am proud to share with you today. Let’s dive in!
‘Sister Flower’ gets the show rolling, and Shaun reels the listener in with a fuzzy and hypnotic guitar riff. Hard-hitting drums are then introduced before Shaun’s distinctive raspy and swaggering vocals come into play. It’s a cracking start!
‘Death In The Dark’ delivers a critical and uncompromising critique of street violence in the UK, all framed within a crunchy and immersive soundscape, while ‘Last Night At Midnight’ sees the artist letting loose in ways that take me back to his debut EP. Pure power!
‘I Want You’ completes ‘SL EP 3’ and showcases Shaun’s ability to get inventive and mix up his sound, as he offers up a love song he describes as being “written from a good place despite not feeling love reciprocated”.
Getting more mature and refined with each new release, there’s no telling how far Shaun Lewis could go in the industry.
