Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to review Sharod Virtuoso’s soulful single ‘Favorite’. I fell in love with the tune instantly, and now the Atlanta-based multi-instrumentalist, Grammy-nominated producer, vocalist, and songwriter has returned. ‘Drop a Pin’ is Sharod’s brand new single, and it sees him continue on his warm, neo-soul, alternative R&B journey. A silky smooth electric guitar gets things up and running before an unpretentious beat and Sharod’s seductive vocals make their introduction.
Lyrically, it’s a bit more cheeky and playful when compared to ‘Favorite’. Delivering a clear and concise message to their person of interest to drop a pin to their location, it’s a track that’s straightforward and direct. “I enjoy writing cheeky and kinda edgy songs that are more sensual than sexual,” admits Sharod.
The musician has promised to release a bunch of new tunes throughout the year, and we’ll do our absolute best to hold him to that! In my opinion, Sharod has found his voice and his sound. He knows exactly what he’s after, and now he’s decided to go for it. ‘Drop a Pin’ is another gem that he can proudly add to his discography, so let’s hope there’s more just around the corner!
