Sean Addicott Shares Expansive Ambient Piece ‘Cat’s Eyes in Absentia’

Hailing from Bristol. Sean Addicott has long championed a fierce, unfiltered take on experimental music and artistic integrity. His latest effort, ‘Cat’s Eyes in Absentia’ is the strongest evidence of it, a long, expressive piece drenched in grainy, expansive textures and analogue character. ‘Machine rewilding’, as Addicott himself defines it: packed with tape-powered glitches and infinite reverbs, ‘Cat’s Eyes in Absentia’ provides an absorbing sonic wall capable of aiding introspection and resilience.

In our case, the track filled the empty, silent space around us, supercharging our perception of reality and making it bearable, even if for just a mere twelve minutes. Speaking more in-depth about the inspiration beyond the piece, Sean explains: “‘Cat’s Eyes in Absentia’ was recorded on the 16th of November 2023, the morning after the Israeli invasion of Al-Shifa hospital, and offers space for reflection; a pocket of time to be sat in, felt in. Although composed in 2022, as a wild, improvised, stumble-found space for difficult reflection, the meaning came not from the opaque messiness of inception, but from the context gathered through the process of the piece’s recording.”

All proceeds are going to Medical Aid Palestine.
