Sasha Adrian Presents Dreamy and Vulnerable New EP ‘Shell’

‘Shell’ is a thought-provoking and sonically gorgeous EP to ease us into the weekend. Courtesy of Copenhagen-based indie-pop artist Sasha Adrian, the six-track offering is a dreamy and intimate journey into the mind of its creator. Taking the listener on a candid journey through anger and sorrow to therapy and self-love, ‘Shell’ is raw and vulnerable, revealing emotions in their purest form, unfiltered and profoundly human.

We begin with ‘IMDb’, a hypnotic little number that tackles everyday experiences. With an unexpectedly heavy and intense outro, it’s a song that keeps you on your toes and sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the EP.

‘Shell’ then steps up to the plate and, similar to its predecessor, delivers an eclectic sonic palette. A sweet and delicate opening eventually reaches a crescendo before heading into a booming almost shoegazy finish. Just superb!

‘Free of You’ was the first tune written for the EP, and composed at a time when Sasha’s trauma was still fresh and unresolved. “‘Free of You’ was written as a sort of surrender,” she says. “At a time when it was still near impossible to talk about what had happened”.

‘Appointment’ and ‘Adult’ complete ‘Shell’ – two tracks I’d implore you to inspect. All in all, it’s a highly inventive and intoxicating record.
