Sarah von Reis Defies Darkness with Honesty in ‘Patrol’

We got to know Swedish sensation Sarah Von Reis thanks to a previous single, ‘Nest’, described by Mesmerized as a “nostalgic, lovable gem”. The project carries a great deal of sonic magnificence, with the talented songstress sharing a heightened love for misty atmospheres, blissful vocals and meaningful, personal lyricism.

Ahead of her upcoming debut album ‘Fish Food’, expected on March 28, von Reis has recently unveiled another stunning single, ‘Patrol’. Compared to its predecessor, the new track takes perhaps a darker path, yet one that’s paved with empowering resolutions and angelic soundscapes. Featuring punchier drums and a more alt-pop-lenient production, ‘Patrol’ finds expansive melancholia in its fierce lyricism, exploring the power of collective honesty and authenticity in a relationship.

As von Reis explains: “‘Patrol’ is about a sleepless and waking night in a relationship where everything is coming to a head. When the ugly stuff you both are carrying no longer can be swept away so you say, fuck it, and let the destructive stuff get air in the hope to become free together. I wanted to write something raw and honest about that, to let darkness be a catalyst for light.”

Such songwriting goodness is obviously delivered by Sarah’s magnificent, elegant vocals, always showcasing a certain angelic quality.
