We were writing about ‘corvette’ not long ago, declaring it a “slice of nostalgia and romanticism enclosed into an attractive and modern pop package”. Now, British sensation SAPPHIRE returns with a worthy follow-up, ‘crisis’, an uplifting and upbeat offering raising the stakes on her career. It is clear she’s building towards a larger release, and based on the majestic tracks we are hearing, SAPPHIRE is on course for some glorious recognition.
How could it not be? The British creative has consistently amassed a sizeable audience over the last few years, showcasing nuanced songwriting abilities and a vocal tone to die for. Teaming up with some of the most respected names in the industry, such as producer Alex Stacey (Caity Baser, Bellah Mae, MIKA) and mixing engineer Alawn (with 16 Billboard #1s), SAPPHIRE delivers a record that feels euphoric, charming and emotional all at the same time. ‘crisis’ deserves a spot in your favourites.
Speaking about the inspiration behind it, the young talent explains: “I was watching season 1 of ‘Heartstopper’ when I had the first idea for ‘crisis’. The lyric ‘having a crisis’ was circling my brain and I couldn’t sleep that night. Luckily, I had a studio session the following day… ‘crisis’ was created so fast because it was so fresh in my mind, and I literally spent the entire day in the studio smiling and squealing with excitement about it.”
