Saniel Woods and SpacePea Craft Dance Album ‘Techno Village’

There’s no big mystery and no intricate ethos behind ‘Techno Village’. Rather, what we find is pure artistic joy and the nuanced work of two talented people. Setting the goal of writing a techno album, Saniel Woods and SpacePea do exactly that, birthing twelve tracks ranging from atmospheric, liminal anthems to hard-hitting club fillers. Interestingly, the couple are also romantically involved and living in a stable, doubling as their home studio.

‘Black Sea’ is the album’s opener, and as such it sees fit to make a strong statement. Listeners are treated to a hazy, bright stream of dazzling synths, before taking refuge in a much more composed and gloomy techno beat. SpacePea’s female vocals – interjecting with short phrases and sultry moans –  complete the sonic picture, perfectly supporting Woods’ production magic.

‘Discovery’ significantly widen ‘Techno Village’s aural palette, referencing glitchy electronica and punchier house elements. From there on it is fair game: the record finds its animus, and is therefore ready for liftoff. Speaking about their work, Saniel Woods and Spacepea explain: “We have bundled all danceable techno tracks into this album. Interesting tracks have emerged such as Towelie, which is pretty crazy. And Limitless, where the kick and bass hit you hard in the face.”
