Sandra Bouza Shares Stunning Wholesome Single ‘The City’

If you didn’t know Sandra Bouza yet, you’d be pleasantly surprised about discovering her intimate, introspective songwriting work and her evocative, relatable vocals. We sure were: emerging from Toronto, the Canadian talent has spent a lifetime refining her musicianship skills, finding live performances particularly alluring – a given, seen her ability to create such a wholesome and poignant vibe with her songs.

Meeting producer and collaborator Ross Hayes Citrullo in the midst of the pandemic, thanks to a livestream concert, Bouza set out to package a stunning album, ‘A Sound In The Dark’, expected later this year in September. For now, we do get a little preview, in the form of ‘The City’, an emotionally rich, nuanced and memorable offering. In it, the listener will be able to fully appreciate the sonic and lyrical depth of Sandra’s vocal tone, so controlled yet intense and passionate.

Describing the lyricism behind it, Souza explains: “This is a song about the naïve exuberance of youth. Trying to bypass your innocence because you think you’ve got it all figured out. I really felt a connection to Neil Young’s ‘Birds’ when I wrote this song.” Crucially, we also get a live video performance of the track – a true gift.
