‘Counting On Me’ is the anthemic yet melancholic new single from London-based singer/songwriter SAM LUMAR. Serving as the follow-up to his successful debut release ‘SODA’ last year, ‘Counting On Me’ is plainly described by the artist as a “pop-rock song about death and the fear of losing someone“. It’s an “easy listen” sonically, but behind the instrumentals lies a deep and thought-provoking tune that stays within you long after your first listen. It’s not often that I instantly connect with a track, but I have with ‘Counting On Me’.
LUMAR has always had a connection to music ever since his childhood in Spain. His father, a radio presenter, would play vinyl records for him. Realising that he wanted to dedicate his life to something meaningful, LUMAR decided to pursue his musical passions. It also gave him a chance to, in his words, “fight my fear of death by creating something that would live on forever“.
There’s nothing better than discovering a musician who is “just getting started”. It’s exciting, and you can’t wait to follow their progress. We get the feeling 2023 could be a big year for SAM LUMAR!
