Russick Smith Shares Stunning Orchestral Piece ‘The Architecture of Vapor’

There’s a fierce sense of elegance and drama in ‘Architecture of Vapor’. It is quite a transformative piece, in the way it manages to fully wrap the listener into emotional and life-changing orchestral soundscapes. Penned by Denver-based composer and cellist Russick Smith, ‘The Architecture of Vapor’ places itself in the artistic-research-based side of the music spectrum.

You see, this is a piece you should listen to with attention and reverence. Not just for its technical magnitude, but also for its immense gravitas, which will no doubt inspire a rather introspective journey through memories, pain, and regrets. Fear not, there will be a resolution. Like the brave soldier battling in the night, sunrise will eventually bring a slice of peace.

Commissioned by architect and aerialist Jennifer Thies in the midst of the pandemic, ‘The Architecture of Vapor’ aimed to sustain her spiritually and mentally; as Thies explains: “I was looking for something that rips my heart open in a good way.” Along with the piece, the final listener will also be able to enjoy some inspiring visuals, based on a young girl with a clear passion for both cello and sketching, as she grows up and becomes an architect (Thies herself).
