We have been following ROREY for a while, and honestly, it still blows our minds not to see her commanding a larger audience. We reckon it’s just a matter of time: if past singles such as ‘Emotional Hangover’ and ‘Sit w It’ gave us a glimpse of what the New York-based songstress is capable of, latest effort ‘Soho Grand’ shows us a path forward that’s very convincing and exciting.
Taken from the upcoming EP ‘Dysphoria’, ‘Soho Grand’ shifts the project into a more expansive, poignant direction, with shiny guitar tones replaced by an uplifting and anthemic electronic production and a powerful, majestic chorus. While ROREY’s sonic character might be evolving, one thing remains the same: the relatable, introspective lyricism steeped in personal experience.
Having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2021, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery and reckoning. This, coupled with the mental health rollercoaster of everyday life, is a theme that will indeed be central to the EP.
As the American creative explains: “I think we’ve all been at a place where we wondered if things would ever get better. That feeling kept me from seeking help because, for a while, I thought, What’s the point if it never does? Spoiler alert – it did. Healing isn’t linear; for me, it took years of commitment and surrender. To anyone looking for relief, I’d encourage you to lean into the uncertainty. Trust the process – it’s worth it.”
