Romain Gutsy Pays Homage to His Wife in ‘Eloisa’

‘Eloisa’ is exactly what we would expect from a classy, wise and talented French troubadour. Based in Paris, Romain Gutsy has showcased his songwriting qualities time and time again, releasing his record in English, for a global audience. We are confident there are a lot of people that will appreciate his songs. While they might not be for everyone, there’s a whole lot of quirky character and playfulness there.

‘Eloisa’ is the perfect example of that: built on gypsy jazz influences and modern folk, and conceived as a traditional French chanson, the piece develops with charisma and confidence, guided by Romain Gutsy’s expert vocals. His raw, smokey tone is the perfect match for such a vibrant record, pairing very well with the accordion, for instance.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Eloisa’, Gutsy explains: “‘Eloisa’ is a song I wrote for my wife. First verse she slapped me, second verse she smiled, third verse she cried. Finally, she said ‘it’s a good song’”.
