We were lucky enough to write about Roger Jaeger earlier this month, celebrating the American artist for his “fragile and sensible songwriting framed into heartfelt country and Americana flair”. We stand behind our words: Jaeger is obviously doing something right, layering his earthy, raw and evocative vocals on familiar and comforting productions. Now, he returns with another stunning music video, a positive celebration of travelling packed with uplifting vibes.
‘Wander’ is the record behind such a compelling visual product. Posing as the title track of Roger’s upcoming album, the song is once again extremely relatable and accessible, delving into its author’s willingness to travel and simply wander, a theme that directly relates to his personal experience. The sonic livery is packed with rich country character, a joy to listen to.
Directed by Marcus Mezzano, the video is a loyal companion to an already compelling record, doubling down on the idea of trusting one’s guts and being bold, not being afraid of going where life is taking you. An idea we stand behind: too often we are chained by preconceptions and useless beliefs – fearing the unknown. Instead, Jaeger advises us of the contrary, yet still staying loyal to his roots.
