We have been avidly following fierce rock duo Deer Park Avenue for a while (you can read our interview with them here), and we have always been impressed with the project’s vibrant euphoria and unmatched energy – a breath of fresh air in a music landscape that’s too often stagnant and repetitive. The group’s latest album, ‘Crucible’ – out today – seems to showcase everything we just said, providing a listening experience that’s uplifting and punchy, yet evocative and elegant.
‘Cave’ opens the record in eclectic settings, delving into melancholic, cinematic pop-rock vibes with a distinct anthemic character. Sarah’s dynamic vocals and lush guitar tones are a perfect match for Steph’s rolling, rowdy drumming style. By the way, Deer Park Avenue are sisters, a unique feature that helps the project stand out in today’s overcrowded music industry. Further On, ‘Voices’ gives us a clear example of the catchy songwriting prowess enjoyed by the group, while electronic elements help the album expand its sonic palette.
‘Crucible’ features production by GRAMMY-winning producer Reto Peter (Green Day). With such a concoction of talent, DPA can do no wrong, and it shows: the creative sister duo has been steadily growing her international audience. Speaking about the record, Sarah explains: “We love full albums and we wanted a record that really told a story. It’s our story, but it’s just the story of being human.”
