Not everyone might love an instrumental album. We, on the other side, certainly do. If the music is good enough, it’s like having a personal soundtrack following you around, a blank canvas one can fill with own thoughts and themes. That’s what Robin Bermann has set out to do, collecting his artistic prowess into a stunning and long album, ‘Lunar Dreams’. The result is very, very good. Over thirteen instrumental tracks, the German producer builds a charismatic sonic journey balanced over alt-rock and retro-wave stylings, blending two seemingly separate genres into a poignant and engaging flow of glorious vibes.
Notably, Bermann performs and produces most of the material on ‘Lunar Dreams’, a sign that we are dealing with an uber-gifted creative. Recorded at his home studio, the record is sympathetic to the likes of Linkin Park, Don Broco, Kraftklub, Modern Baseball and Blink 182, among others, really focusing on their respective instrumental formulas.
Speaking about the record, Bermann explains: “Maybe I bring an interesting sound to the table, everything is made by me alone including mixing/mastering. Instrumental music is generally really difficult to market since “normal” songs are supposed to have vocals.” Well, we appreciate it, thanks for the fantastic record, Robin.
