Very familiar with Robert Vendetta, we are happy to see the Norwegian talent back with a new record; one that we knew was coming. Following up on previous singles ‘Fool’ and ‘Vacation’, ‘Vendetta Del Disco’ widens the project’s artistic horizon, showcasing Robert’s eclectic blend of art-rock, retro pop and everything in between.
Drenched in classic instrumentation and old-school arrangements, the album was nominally inspired by David Bowie, channelling the same willingness to border far-out genres; in fact, there’s a certain psych, electronic and afro component in it, giving it a rather unique and quirky outlook when it comes to grooves and textures. Besides, the overall feel is playful and uplifting.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record’s lyricism, Vendetta explains: “The main character loses himself in work, work and work. No time for friends or hobbies. Then his boss tells him to take a Vacation and the character suddenly finds himself at the discotheque ‘Vendetta Del Disco’ – where he learns to dance, live here and now, breathe and set the world on fire!”
