Rob Roth is a New York-based singer/songwriter and producer who just put out his first single of the year in the form of ‘Awol’. A sonically upbeat, summery, and bright tune, ‘Awol’ takes Rob’s 90s and 00s pop-rock influences and concocts them into an uplifting and seriously anthemic banger! Filled with layers of synthy goodness and lively percussion, the two-and-a-half-minute track packs a considerable punch and, along with Roth’s truly outstanding vocal performance, leaves a lasting impression long after the song has finished.
Lyrically, ‘Awol’ juxtaposes its cheerful and buoyant soundscape with a poignant exploration of disillusionment with the corporate world and disconnectedness from society. Overwhelmed and caught up in it all, the tune serves as Rob’s healing process through discovery, self-awareness, and ultimately liberation.
Inspired by the likes of Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Goo Goo Dolls, Avicii, and The Chainsmokers to name just a few, Roth understands the importance of evoking people’s emotions through his music. Working alongside the legendary vocal coach Robert “RAab” Stevenson, Rob has the world at his feet, and I get the feeling we’ll be hearing from him again very soon!
