Contrary to expectations, good pop music is one of the hardest artistic endeavours out there. Crafting catchy, luscious and interesting melodies is not for everyone, and that’s usually reserved for a plethora of big-name songwriters who – going from session to session – gift their magical touch to all projects they are involved in. Sometimes though, newcomers carry that obscure songwriting prowess by themselves, a sign of extreme talent. Las Vegas resident Amy Jaime is certainly one of them: championing a relatable brand of friendly R’n’B, she’s able to paint mesmerising lyrical journeys exploring the highs and lows of relationships and dating, providing a slice of solace and empathy to the listener in need.
After having endured a short hiatus this year – her previous single is dated January 7th – Amy Jaime now returns with a brand new offering, ‘Secret’, marking the start of a new wave of upcoming releases. Boasting a modern, hip-hop-derived production, the record sheds a light on the new direction the project is heading towards. Drawing inspiration from Ariana Grande’s latest album, ‘Secret’ navigates organic elements (such as strings stabs) juxtaposed with intimate yet punchy trap-style grooves.
Lyrically, Jaime recalls a particular dating situation she experienced earlier this year. In it, the listener will recognize all of the idiosyncrasies of modern dating, perhaps finding a slice of his own experience.
