Ritu Explores Heartbreak in Relatable Jewel ‘Happier’

The keen reader will gracefully remember London newcomer Ritu, young talent with a knack for soulful tones and laidback lyricism. Writing about her previous release ‘Swimming’, we proudly declared: “from its intonation, range and expressivity, everything points toward a bright career for the British newcomer.” Now, Ritu is back with the next chapter in her artistic journey. ‘Happier’ takes a slightly darker and more poignant direction, still building on her jazzy and pop qualities.

A mesmerising offering, the record further enhances what we knew about the young songstress. In ‘Happier’, the listener will particularly appreciate the chorus, so relatable and evocative, while keeping a certain ethereal outlook, mainly thanks to Ritu’s engaging and soothing harmonies.

Lyrically, we are in heartbreak territories. As Ritu explains: “Happier’ is a heartbreak song with an upbeat undertone. This track is all about going through a breakup and wondering what the other person is doing.”
