Rhys Tranter Delivers Genius Retro-Inspired Pop Tune ‘Call my name’

“This is my strongest pop song and catchiest tune to date.” Those are the strong words of Rhys Tranter, an Australian singer/songwriter who recently unveiled his energetic and retro-inspired new single ‘Call my name’.

Filled with synthy hooks and employing innovative techniques like the use of an e-bow, Rhys’ latest release is truly one of the most infectious offerings I’ve heard so far this year. Working alongside producer Mat Leppanen, (Animal Farm Records) Tranter has concocted a dreamy, shimmering, and simply radiant piece of pop brilliance destined to brighten any playlist!

But what’s the story behind ‘Call my name’ you ask? Well, Rhys reveals the inspiration came from his day-to-day life. “I would play the chorus on my guitar and then hear my wife singing it later. After a while of this happening, I knew I had to write the song”.

As we’ve often said here at Mesmerized, there’s skill and mastery to writing a great pop song, and I repeatedly feel the genre gets a bad rap. But the truth is, when done well, pop music can be transformative. And, with ‘Call my name’, Rhys Tranter has wonderfully reminded us of that fact.
