Nine tracks. Eighteen minutes. And a whole lot of energy! This is how best to describe ‘Rat Race’, the sophomore album from Stockholm-based stoner rock trio Repeat. Only half a year since the band’s debut record, Repeat is back with their most ferocious and intense music to date.
Navigating between stoner rock, punk, and post-hardcore sounds, ‘Rat Race’ is a high-octane and untamed offering not made for the faint-hearted. Relentlessly raw and fearless, the band explore several moods and styles, all culminating in an explosive and exhilarating sonic assault.
‘Man On The Moon’ kicks off proceedings with a gritty and fervent punch before the hard-rocking sound of ‘Death’ enters the fray. ‘Not Enough’ keeps up the intensity until we finally get a little reprieve in the form of ‘Reasons’.
Reflecting on the record, Repeat mentioned that they “prefer the short format and the recording was mostly live. We also wanted to hone in on how it would feel to play the songs live”. I have some idea…Volcanic, tempestuous, and simply breathtaking! A seriously powerful EP from a highly gifted bunch of musicians!
