Renee Maskin and Sonofdov Team Up on Hauntingly Beautiful EP ‘Chansons De Lune’

Sonny & Cher, Captain & Tennille, Angus & Julia Stone, and now Renee Maskin and Sonofdov. The best male and female duos enable both vocalists to shine and offer a perfect blend of contrasting and complementary talents making for unforgettable music. Such is the case with ‘Chansons De Lune’, the new four-track EP courtesy of New Jersey-based singer/songwriters Renee Maskin and Dennis King, AKA Sonofdov.

Combining their imagery-laden songwriting and textured sonic palettes, the talented twosome has concocted four truly incredible tunes, beginning with the magical ‘Wild Winds’. A hauntingly beautiful piece of music, the alternative-folk offering is laced with nostalgia and imbued with a sense of timelessness – the perfect start to proceedings.

‘Jacques Cousteau’ then follows in an equally charming fashion, and the musical chemistry between the two artists is palpable. As if they were destined to perform together, their voices intertwine effortlessly, creating a harmonious blend that feels both natural and inspired.

‘Kerosene Mountain’ steps up to the plate and, at this stage, I’m running out of superlatives to describe the duo and their art. Another absolute stunner, its evocative and rich arrangement is simply enchanting.

‘Jungle Green’ concludes the EP, and I’ll allow you to experience it yourself. All I’ll say is that ‘Chansons De Lune’ is easily one of the best EPs I’ve heard in some time.
