Red Cabin Marks His Comeback with Fuzzy Single ‘Straight Line’

There’s something highly enticing in ‘Straight Line’. Perhaps it’s due to the crunchy, hard-hitting guitars in it, often interlaced with fuzzy electronic melodies and shaking drums. Or, even better, perhaps it’s the contrast of all that rock-powered euphoria with Red Cabin’s mellow, elegant vocals, creating an aural push and pull between tenderness and chaos. It sort of reminds us of 70s prog-rock at times, especially in its songwriting flair. The overarching sonic references are instead steeped in boundary-pushing indie-rock, truly taking an eclectic stance.

Hailing from Long Island, Red Cabin has taken a convincingly strong step back into his solo project, as we can attest from ‘Straight Line’ and ‘Never Lost’ being the moniker’s first release since 2015. Known by day as Jonathan Foster, the talented musician and producer manages to intelligently fuse traditional with modernity, offering a sound that’s intriguing and fresh, yet familiar and relatable.

Overall, ‘Straight Line’ is a convincing effort, one that showcases Red Cabin’s long-standing commitment to artistic authenticity. Time goes by quickly, yet his musical prowess is still intact and lively.
