Ravi Kuma Say Goodbye with Farewell Album ‘Safe Sex’

All good things must come to an end. Ravi Kuma knows it well, having just released their farewell album, ‘Safe Sex’, together with two farewell concerts, one at Aarhus Volume on May 16 and one at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen on May 23. The Danish duo has caused quite a stir in recent years, championing their signature electro hip-hop character, a sparkling artistic universe made of rebellious, striking lyricism and cutting-edge sonic energy.

Ravi Kuma bow out of the music scene with pride and boldness, boasting millions of streams on Spotify alone. Theirs was a successful journey, one that we’ll be missing – yet, they leave us with plenty of new material, with ‘Safe Sex’ collecting past jams, mixtapes and hidden gems, all rather spicy and packed with a deep sense of freedom. After all, the Danish pair don’t have to please anyone now: simply, they gift the last slices of euphoria to their most loyal fans.

As Ravi Kuma explains: “The album is a giant middle finger to the music industry’s hierarchy and capitalism. A middle finger to ‘radio-friendly,’ to the mainstream, to algorithms and streaming services – to everyone ruining music. ‘Safe Sex’ wasn’t made to perform well on streaming platforms – it was made to be fucking great music. We hope you like it. But we also don’t give a fuck.”
