Based in Atlanta, hip-hop’s centre of gravity, rapper and songwriter Tre$o has been quietly growing his fanbase and following consistently. He saw early success with hits like ‘Love & Affection’, ‘Caddy’, and ‘Sage’, and now the talented MC is back with a brand new album simply entitled ‘V’. Featuring twenty-three tracks with a runtime of just under an hour, it’s an album that one needs to dedicate time to. I’m so glad that I did. Taking the listener on a melodic, hard-hitting, and at times emotional journey, ‘V’ is a powerful statement from a highly gifted musician. He makes the intricate sound easy and his lyrical prowess is on par with anybody else out there.
Influenced by the likes of Joey Bada$$, Juice WRLD, Mac Miller, Thundercat, and XXXTentacion, Tre$o drew on real-life experiences and events to create ‘V’. “I really wanted to express my frustration through rage music,” he said. “And paint an album full of emotions from the perspective of my dark side”.
It’s rare that an album holds your attention all the way through, and you know you’ve discovered something quite special when one does. I put ‘V’ firmly in that category! It’s a masterpiece of an album, and I’m certain Tre$o will just go from strength to strength!
